Dear John,
Lately you sent me a message concerning reckless
drivers.
The problem is much more serious in Germany,
because we
are allowed to drive at any speed on some of our German
Autobahn. Speeds exceeding 150 miles are not unusual.
A few days ago, driving at approximately 130 miles,
I was
overtaken by a Porsche with a speed next to 200 miles.
The driver suddenly hit the brakes for reasons unknown to
me and I had a hard time to avoid crashing into its rear.
The worst part is actually not that you get
excited, but that
the unchristian thought enters your mind of not hitting the
brakes hard enough and blowing the car in front right from
the street. There is not much of a risk, when you sit in a big
car with airbags all a round, and hit a rather small car from
behind.
However, your advice came to my mind and I thought
of the
danger this driver is constantly in because of his reckless
driving and that he might have a family. So I said to myself:
"I hope you arrive safely at home. May the Lord protect you
and bless you".
Not only that my pulse immediately went from 180 to
normal,
but some kind of calmness took possession of my whole soul
and body. I also enjoyed the rest of my journey immensely by
driving totally relaxed.
Thanks for your good advice!
Sincerely yours
Wolfgang
